The AKILARIA 40RC2 is built in a female mould.
- The hull bottom is infused balsa and fiberglass sandwich construction and the topsides are foam and fiberglass sandwich construction.
- The deck is infused fiberglass and foam sandwich construction.
- All internal structures such as transverse and longitudinal bulkheads are infused fiberglass and foam sandwich construction.
- The ring frames are monolithic infused vinylester fiberglass from a female mould. They are glued to the floor of the hull with PLEXUS (methacrylate adhesive). This material guarantees a mechanical and chemical bonding.
- The deck is also glued to the hull flange with PLEXUS. Stanchions are bolted through the hull to deck joint.
- All interior parts are made are foam and fiberglass composite panels; chart table, galley, storage units, etc.
- Each and every piece is systematically weighed during the building process.

Stainless steel pulpit, 2 stainless steel push pits, and central push pit, all connected with a double row of stainless steel lifelines. Four stanchions on each side. The stanchions are in stainless steel, tapered at the top with a support leg. A Lewmar LP54 hatch is fitted on the transom. Jack line pad eyes are positioned in the cockpit and on the side decks. (Jack lines not provided)

The cockpit was designed to optimize shorthanded and solo sailing. The central tiller is equipped with a telescopic Spinlock tiller extension. The mainsheet traveler is fitted on a transverse composite support. The steering positions are recessed into the side decks to optimize helming ergonomics and are fitting with an adjustable stainless steel foot rail for support. Foot chocks on the cockpit floor provide security during maneuvers. The cockpit is self-draining. Double companionway doors allow for a central support pod where the clutches and two winches are fitted.

Two SOFOSCOOP type n°2 ballast scoops electric pump and control valves.
750l of water ballast shared between 250L (forward tank) and 500L ( aft tank) Each ballast tank is equipped with a clear watertight inspection hatch and vented to the deck. Ballast pump switch and tank control valves have controls fitted in the cockpit.

Mast, boom and bowsprit are manufactured using autoclaved, prepreg carbon.
Mast is a new profile with two sets of spreaders. It is fitted on deck with an anodized aluminum plate. The gooseneck fitting is attached with wound carbon, the masthead is also carbon.
The bowsprit is adjustable side to side and has a rectangular section to avoid side flex.
The bowsprit position is controlled by a curved track fitted on the fore deck. Control lines are led back to the cockpit for bowsprit adjustment.
Standing rigging is Navtec rod consisting of: V1 with turnbuckle, D1 with turnbuckle and D2 with turnbuckle.
The head stay, inner forestay and two sets of backstays are fiber.

Winches are made by Harken or Antal (owner’s choice):
2 x 44-2ST on the central cockpit pod.
1 x 44-2ST and 1 x 48-2ST on the side decks.
All the blocks and pulleys are Harken or Antal.
Clutches are Spinlock.
Stainless steel pad eyes are made by Wichard.

System developed and built in collaboration with JP3. Center line tiller is fixed to a jump stock and bearing. The jump stock is connected to the rudders by an aluminum connecting rod. The connecting rod has a ball and socket fitting at each end where it connects to the tiller arms. Rudder stocks are 49mm diameter F16PH stainless steel. The rudders are mounted under the hull and are made in female molds. The rudder stocks are supported by upper and lower, self aligning JP3 rudder bearings.

The keel fin is constructed from hi-modulus steel and the lead bulb are manufactured by the Lemer foundry in France
The fin is finished off in the builders yard with PVC foam, fiberglass and epoxy.
Particular attention is paid to the finishing of the profile.

NANNI 29 HP diesel engine incorporating an SD10 sail drive. Engine and sail drive are fixed to a fiberglass pan that is integrated into the structure of the hull.
Engine compartment is ventilated by forced ventilation which is activated when the engine is switched on.
Engine panel is located in the starboard aft cabin.
Spinlock gear and throttle lever is mounted in the port side of the cockpit.
531 diesel tank is located in the engine compartment, behind the motor.
Propeller is a Gori Racing model, 2 bladed, folding.

LED Hella red/white light with dimmer under coach roof at navigation station, adjustable LED Hella red/white light with dimmer in the forward sail locker, red/white LED chart light, waterproof LED lights in the engine room, aft cabin and lazerette. Red/green LED navigation lights on bow pulpit, LED white stern light on central aft push pit, LED tri-color navigation light on mast head. Led deck light on mast.

Forward cabin :
A large sail locker with access to the deck by Lewmar LP60 hatch. 250 l forward water ballast tanks are located on the hull sides, port and stb’d. Each with a clear watertight hatch. Battery storage is located on the floor, forward of the mast bulkhead.
Longitudinal hand rails on sides of the coach roof.
Chemical toilet.
Central cabin :
Double watertight, latchable companionway doors on hinges and lockers.
Access in and out of the cabin is easy and ergonomic with only one step up or down. Central chart table with vertical, 180° revolving electrical panel.
3 chart table seat positions: one on centerline of boat, facing forward with vertical electrical panel facing you and one on each side of the boat with electrical panel either turned port or stb’d. 90 degrees.
Central galley with stainless steel sink and single burner stove.
Longitudinal hand rails on each side of coach roof.
Aft cabin:
Large storage compartment on the aft side of the main companionway bulkhead. 500L water ballast tanks are located on the hull sides, port and stb’d. Each with two clear watertight hatches.

Flush plastic through-hulls, with quarter-turn valves.
45 liter water tank is under the chart table seat.
Two bilge pumps, one electric and the other manual.

Cradle is galvanized steel with two custom built fiberglass bunks that fit and support the hull. Cradle is can be erected to support boat with keel on or lowered to fit boat with keel off.
